Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's directorial debut "Mother's Love" received a rapturous reception at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, with audiences giving the film a 10-minute standing ovation.

The film tells the story of a mother's unwavering determination to save her wrongfully imprisoned son, drawing from real events in Nigerian history.

"This film is my love letter to every Nigerian mother who has fought impossible battles for her children," said Jalade-Ekeinde during the Q&A session.

The film has been acquired for distribution in 12 countries and is expected to receive a wide Nigerian theatrical release in April 2026.

Critics have praised the film's emotional depth, powerful performances, and polished production values, with several predicting it could be Nigeria's strongest contender for international film awards this year.
